Jess Bartlett is an award-winning writer/producer based in SW England. She has produced a large number of short films including two BBC Arts and ACE funded projects, one of which is streaming on BBC iPlayer. She has also produced award-winning spooky shorts TIME OUT (2020), STAGNANT (2020), WITHER (2019), and critically-acclaimed musical DEARLY DEPARTED (2018).
Jess is one of the 2023 Killer Shorts horror screenplay contest winners. Her script DUCK DUCK GOOSE placed as 2nd winner in the one-page category.
In 2022, Jess worked as a TV writer on new horror series URBAN LEGEND (2022) produced by Eli Roth for Discovery+ with writer/director Ethan Evans. Jess was also selected for the new BFI Shorts2Features scheme and received a Bafta Connect membership. Alongside this, she completed work as a mentor on the 2022 BFI Creative Mentoring scheme.
In 2021, Jess earned her first professional writing credit on horror TV series THE HAUNTED MUSEUM (2021) produced by Eli Roth and Zak Bagans. Since, she has written for Series 2 which is currently in post-production. Her episode 'Monster in the Machine' co-written with Ethan is available to watch on Discovery+.
As a Production Company Director at Terror Arcade, Jess is currently in development for multiple projects, including the early development of their debut feature film. Their latest short TIME OUT went viral online, accumulating over 30+ million views across platforms.
Jess worked as an Assistant Producer/Post Production Coordinator at Calling The Shots in 2021 and completed the BFI New Producers Lab in November 2020.
Jess graduated from the University of Gloucestershire in 2018 with a First Class Honours Degree in Film Production with an additional 'School of Media Creativity Prize'.
